Why I need external GPS device?
Internal iPhone or Android GPS have 1Hz refresh rate and this is not precise enough for this use. This is why we have created the most precise device on the market, with 25Hz, the best antena, huge battery and strong magnets, to resolve all the issues people are having with current devices on the market.
How to connect external GPS device to RB app?
For BLE devices like RaceBuddy ONE, RaceBoxPro and RaceHF, go to Settings -> Devices and then connect.
Why is my run invalid?
There are two main reasons. Slope and signal.
If slope is negative (downhill run for more then 1%), it will be invalid.
Also, you need to have good signal and enough satelites, so be sure you keep your device on car roof or under the wind screen.
How to record video?
On main screen, when device is connected, video button will show.
When you enable video, it will start recording. When run is finished, it will finish recording and will attach video to that run.
How to make video overlay?
If your run has recorded video, select that run from list of runs, go to “video” in top right corner and it will do overlay if you are first time using it. Overlay is done frame by frame and it takes few minutes. When overlay is done, you are able to share that video with friends online, or to publish or leaderboard.
How to get the same results like on timing slip?
For NHRA specified measurements, we have 1 foot rollout calculated.
If you use external device, you will get close results to timing slip. Note: Drag strips are using multiple optical sensors and they are calculating location of vehicle in space. GPS, with good refresh rate, is more precise!
Be sure to adjust Staging settings (Settings, How you stage your car?). There are 3 options, Deep, Medium or Shallow.
Do I need to connect an App?
It is not required. RaceBuddy ONE device will log on SD card.
If you connect RaceBuddy Drag or RaceBuddy Laptimer app, you will be able to use more advanced features like live timing, video overlays, leaderboard etc.
Device will always log on 32GB SD card provided with device. You can take .vbo file from that SD card and analyse in any desktop software you like.
What are FREE and what are PRO features?
You can use RaceBuddy ONE device for free in both our apps.
If you want to use devices from another manufactures, you will need PRO subscription in our apps.
PRO features are:
- Custom branding of videos
- Premium support
- Leaderboard visibility
- Other external devices support
List will be constantly growing and if you need some functionality, as PRO user you can send us suggestion and we will try to implement that ASAP.
